How many of you had a professor who was proud of his/her multiracial heritage in undergrad? Not us! Greg Carter teaches at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Take a look at his schedule:
HIST 200: The Civil Rights Movement in America
HIST 404: The Hip-Hop Generation
HIST 270: Mixed-Race Identity in American Culture
HIST 600: Race Relations in America
So...jealous! But at least we got to be his 'pupils' for a little bit today. Click on the episode playbutton below to listen and leave a comment.
If you'd like to get in touch with Dr. Carter, you can find him here: http://www4.uwm.edu/letsci/history/faculty/carter.cfm or here: http://www.facebook.com/gregcarter
I didn't have such a professor, but I am such a professor, but what I teach is a category of its own, one that transcends boundaries by claiming all of them (negatives and positives and alternating): Limited Fork Theory: the study of interacting systems (on any scale in any location for any duration of time).
I love Mixed Chicks! Thanks for the blog, podcasts, all

Not related to this post but I post on thenest.com and saw this post where people briefly discuss mixed race and blackface: http://community.thenest.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/49650133.aspx
